Overview

My Cal Pal (“the App”) is an iOS application for nutrition planning, meal logging, AI meal recognition, weight tracking, and hydration. This policy explains how the current version handles information related to your use of the App.

Information We Collect and Use

• Profile and plan data (on-device): Gender, age, height, weight, activity level, goals, plan strategy, and daily calorie/macro targets are stored locally to generate your plan and progress views.
• Meals and food logs (primarily on-device): Foods and meals you search, scan, voice-log, or enter manually, including portions, custom foods, and favorites, are stored locally for daily execution, history, and recommendations.
• Weight and hydration (on-device): Weight entries and water logs remain on your device for trends and goals.
• Camera, photos, and meal images: Access is requested only when you scan a meal, scan a barcode, or add a photo to a custom food. To provide AI meal recognition, the App compresses meal images on-device, obtains a temporary upload credential from our server, uploads the image to object storage, and sends it to an AI service for recognition. Custom food images may be saved in local app storage to display foods you create.
• AI recognition input: When you use AI photo scan, we process the compressed meal image, optional text description, recognition result, estimated calories, and macronutrients. When you use AI voice logging, speech is transcribed on-device first; the App sends the transcribed text for food recognition and does not upload the original audio recording.
• Device integrity and abuse-prevention data: To prevent API abuse, manage free usage limits, and protect subscription access, the App may use Apple App Attest, DeviceCheck, session tokens, and anonymous device-related identifiers. This information is used for security, fraud prevention, quota limits, and service reliability, not for advertising tracking.
• Notifications: If enabled, plan reminders are scheduled locally based on your plan and logging state.
• iCloud sync: If you subscribe to My Cal Pal Pro and turn on iCloud Sync, the App syncs structured data such as profile, plan, meals, weight, hydration, custom foods, and settings through Apple iCloud. Meal photos and custom food images are not synced to iCloud.
• Widgets: Home Screen widgets read on-device summary data through Apple App Groups to display progress. This data is not sent to our servers.
• Subscriptions and purchases: My Cal Pal Pro is processed by the Apple App Store through StoreKit. The App requests product details, purchase results, transaction status, and available purchases from Apple, and may send transaction credentials to our server for validation, restore purchases, and entitlement unlocks. We do not collect or store your Apple ID, card number, or full payment details.
• Third-party food data: When you scan a barcode, the App may query public databases such as Open Food Facts. Queries typically include the barcode identifier only, not your personal profile.

AI Processing

When you use AI food recognition, My Cal Pal asks for your permission before sending data to an AI service provider. If you choose Continue, the App may securely send the food image you selected and any optional meal description you typed to Alibaba Cloud Model Studio (Qwen) to identify foods and estimate nutrition.

Shared data: food images you choose to upload and optional meal descriptions you type for recognition. We do not send your name, email address, or personal identity information for AI recognition. The image and optional description are used only to provide the recognition feature, estimate nutrition, troubleshoot issues, and maintain service reliability. They are not used to train our models.

Storage and Retention

Profile, plan, meal log, weight, hydration, and custom food data in the current version is stored primarily on your device (for example, AsyncStorage and local file storage). If you do not enable iCloud Sync, uninstalling the App, clearing its data, or device failure may permanently remove this content. The current version does not provide a My Cal Pal account or developer-operated account cloud sync. You can clear local data from within the App.

iCloud Sync is provided by Apple iCloud. When enabled, structured data is stored in your iCloud account and is governed by your Apple iCloud settings and policies. Images are not synced through this feature. If you turn off iCloud Sync, new data will no longer be automatically written to iCloud, but existing Apple-side copies may need to be managed through system or app actions.

To provide AI recognition, device integrity checks, quota limits, and subscription validation, our server may temporarily process necessary request data, upload tickets, recognition results, device integrity state, subscription status, and error logs. Meal images and recognition results are used only to complete recognition requests you initiate, troubleshoot issues, and maintain service reliability. They are not used to train our models. We aim to keep server-side data only as long as needed and delete temporary files through object-storage lifecycle rules or backend cleanup.

Third-Party Services

• Apple: App Store distribution, StoreKit purchases and subscriptions, App Attest, DeviceCheck, iCloud, system permissions, notifications, and widgets.
• Alibaba Cloud: API server, object storage, AI model calls, and related cloud infrastructure.
• Alibaba Cloud Model Studio (Qwen): Processes images or text and returns nutrition estimates when you actively use AI meal recognition or AI voice logging.
• Open Food Facts (when you use barcode scan): Public food database lookups.

These third parties are governed by their respective privacy policies.

Children

The App is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your Choices

• Revoke camera, photo, or notification permissions in iOS Settings; related features may stop working.
• Edit or delete meals, weight entries, and custom foods in the App.
• Turn iCloud Sync on or off in App settings; iCloud Sync is a Pro feature.
• Use Clear Local Data in Settings to reset on-device content.
• Choose not to use AI photo scan or AI voice logging and use manual entry, food search, or barcode scan instead.
• Manage subscriptions in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.

Changes

We may update this policy and change the “Last updated” date. Material changes may be communicated in the App or on this page.

• AI 识别输入：当你使用 AI 拍照识别时，我们会处理压缩后的餐食图片、你填写的可选文字描述、 识别结果、估算的热量与宏量营养素。当你使用 AI 语音记录时，语音会先在设备上转写为文字； 本应用发送转写后的文字用于识别食物，不会上传原始录音。
• 设备验证与防滥用信息：为了防止 API 滥用、管理免费额度和保护订阅权益， 本应用可能使用 Apple App Attest、DeviceCheck、会话令牌和匿名设备相关标识进行设备完整性验证。 这些信息用于安全、防欺诈、额度限制和服务稳定性，不用于广告追踪。
• 通知：若你开启计划提醒，本应用会在设备本地调度通知，内容基于你的计划与记录状态生成。
• iCloud 同步：如果你订阅 My Cal Pal Pro 并主动开启 iCloud 同步，本应用会通过 Apple iCloud 同步个人资料、计划、餐食、体重、饮水、自定义食物和设置等结构化数据。餐食图片和自定义食物图片不会同步到 iCloud。
• 小组件：主屏幕小组件通过 Apple 应用组读取本应用在设备上的摘要数据以展示进度， 数据不会发送给我们的服务器。

AI 处理

当你使用 AI 食物识别时，My Cal Pal 会在发送数据给 AI 服务提供方前征求你的同意。 如果你选择继续，本应用可能会将你选择上传的食物图片，以及你主动填写的可选餐食描述，安全发送给 Alibaba Cloud Model Studio（Qwen），用于识别食物并估算营养。

数据存储与保留

当前版本的个人资料、计划、餐食日志、体重、饮水和自定义食物等主要数据存储在设备本地（AsyncStorage、文件存储等）。 如果你没有开启 iCloud 同步，卸载应用、清除应用数据或设备故障可能导致本地内容永久丢失。 本版本不提供 My Cal Pal 账户或开发者运营的账号云同步。你可在应用内清除本地数据。

iCloud 同步由 Apple iCloud 提供。开启后，结构化数据会进入你的 iCloud 账户并受 Apple iCloud 设置和政策约束。 图片不会通过本功能同步；如果你关闭 iCloud 同步，新数据将不再自动写入 iCloud，但 Apple 侧已有副本可能需要通过系统或应用操作清理。

为提供 AI 识别、安全验证、额度限制和订阅校验，我们的服务器会短期处理必要的请求数据、上传凭证、识别结果、 设备验证状态、订阅状态和错误日志。餐食图片与识别结果仅用于完成你发起的识别请求、排查问题和维护服务稳定， 不会用于训练我们的模型。我们会尽量缩短服务器侧数据保留时间，并通过对象存储生命周期或后台清理机制删除临时文件。

第三方服务

• Apple：App Store 分发、StoreKit 购买与订阅、App Attest、DeviceCheck、iCloud、系统权限、通知与小组件。
• 阿里云：API 服务器、对象存储、AI 模型调用和相关云基础设施。
• Alibaba Cloud Model Studio（Qwen）：在你主动使用 AI 餐食识别或 AI 语音记录时处理图片或文字并返回营养估算。
• Open Food Facts（在你使用条码扫描时）：公开食品数据库查询。

上述第三方受其各自隐私政策约束。

儿童隐私

本应用不面向 13 周岁以下儿童。我们不会故意收集儿童的个人信息。

你的选择

• 可在 iOS 系统设置中关闭相机、相册或通知权限；关闭后相关功能可能不可用。
• 可在应用内编辑或删除餐食、体重、自定义食物等本地记录。
• 可在应用设置中开启或关闭 iCloud 同步；iCloud 同步为 Pro 功能。
• 可在设置中使用「清除本地数据」重置应用内容。
• 可选择不使用 AI 拍照识别或 AI 语音记录，改用手动添加、搜索食物或条码扫描。
• 订阅可在 iOS「设置 → Apple ID → 订阅」中管理或取消。

政策更新

我们可能不时更新本政策，并在本页面更新「最后更新」日期。重大变更时，我们会在应用或本页面提示。
